2nd Phase of Hiring – Writers on Social Media Management & Inbound Marketing

To be frank, I was not quiet impressed with the type of writers I came across last time. I had hired all of them from DigitalPoint Forums. Nevertheless to say, it seems the quality of writers on this forums is getting degraded day by day. You will find most of them charging $0.01/word or $1/100 words which is the standard rate. However, when I say standard rate, it is for avg. quality writers. If you want to hire someone who have niche experience, you will have to shell out some good $$.

This time I am hiring content writers for Social Media Management (SMM as it is commonly known as) & Inbound marketing. This time I am not working with the mention category of the writers but I have hired someone who is really good. At least I can say this from his existing work.

I am not quiet sure where should one turn to when it comes to hiring a content writer for a short assignment. Most will go to DigitalPoint or Warrior Forums. If someone has good money to list the job opening, they can also put this on a Problogger Job board. It will cost you around $30 to list the requirement and the rest is the author fee. However, I feel the quality of writers should be good at Problogger Job Board. You can also go to Freelancer.com and list the job requirement there.

There is a trend that you will observe when you post opening for content writer on these Forums and Freelancer.com. Most of the people who reply for the opening are from India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Philippines. And they are really desperate to work for you. They even boast of writing on almost every topic on earth that you can think of. I must say, we have a lot of writers :) :) but trust me, I am yet to come across someone who is really a good writer and care for writing. Obviously money is the unavoidable part but they give preference to what they are writing and simply reject the requirement if the subject is not their stronghold. Why rest of them feel that we can write on any subject maintaining the quality of the content? Do you think it is possible? At least I don’t think so.

Anyway, I shall update further details once I get the content delivery. However, if someone is really interested to write, then please contact me using the contact page.

First official hiring of writers

Though I have hired writers quiet a few times, but this time it was different. Since long time I was waiting to start my web network and I have been collecting domain names since last 4 years. Now, as I am married and everything is at its place, time was for to work on each one of these domains. I am very happy having done that.

I have hired 4 writers who will be writing for one of my upcoming websites techdecibel.com. Major categories on techdecibel are: Operating systems, Innovations @ Work – Technological Innovations, Andriod, apps and marketplace, iOS/Apple, apps and marketplace, Green technology etc..

As for now, they will be collectively writing about 25 articles every month and I feel the number is just about right!

Though I have filled up the openings, I am always ready to listen from you if you have anything to share. So if you feel you can contribute and have strong passion for writing, let me know. And of course you will be paid and paid good money for it . :)

As I already said, I have quiet a few number of domains and soon I will be again hiring for them. Following are some of the coolest domains I have.

And some more..

Using primary-noun method to determine categories

I had attended Science and Art of Effective Design module at HFI, Mumbai in Jan 2010. We were taught to use a method to determine what categories suit the most for your website. However, as it happens in most of the cases, this method came from the course book and went into it again. yeah! I am one lazy ass!  So whatever, until recently I never tried to use this method. It’s called as “Primary Noun” method. Your task her is:

  1. Write down the name and function of your website
  2. Take a pen and paper and write down whatever comes into your mind whenever you think about your website. of course nouns
  3. Find pairs of similar nouns and either merge them or eliminate them
  4. Go on until you are left with 7-9 categories
  5. Go back to first point and again try to match if these nous indeed manifest your vision
  6. Freez!!!!

So while working on one of my other websites, I though to give a shot at this method and see where I land-up at? Following is the outcome of this exercise and I am pretty sure I can still fine tune this further. However, it is just refined upto 2 levels.

5) Innovations @ Work  – Technological Innovations (Not restricted to Computer and IT. Cover anything and everything)

9) Games Reviews

Let’s see how this turns up :) :)

Finally a page where I can ramble :)

Frankly speaking, I had started Ameyablog to randomly write anything right from the Physics, Philosophy and Philosophers, usability, SAP, my personal opinion about anything above and below. But as you can see, Ameyablog has become more of a technical place and a great resource for SAP Netweaver Portal consultants. So it is better leave it as it is. I thought to start a free wordpress blog with a wordpress domain extension but somehow I was not able to convince myself. So finally, here it is, on it Ameyablog itself, a new sub-domain, and this place, though I have named it a Personal Blog, is open for everyone to read and comment :)

I am happy and trust me I am going to literaly ramble here :) no distractions, pure writing!

Stay Put,

Ameya
